Producer WEEE recovery and disposal services

As a manufacturer of WEEE you should be part of a producer compliance scheme (PCS). Under the PCS there are many responsibilities enforced on producers of WEEE. Part of your responsibility will be to finance the collection, treatment and recovery of the future waste created by your products.

Through our experience of WEEE management, ShP has developed a framework for producer trade-in services whereby we can help create and manage a manufacturer led trade-in schemes to comply with WEEE legislation and promote up selling opportunities through trade-in led recycling initiatives. To find out more, contact our industry and retail trade-in and recovery team on 01524 580900.

Retail WEEE services

Retailers and distributors of electronics must enable customers to return waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) products on a like-for-like basis, when they purchase a new product. This is known as ‘retailer take back’.

ShP has a unique and successful retail trade-in solution that helps recover WEEE and drive the sale of new products by issuing a financial reward to retailers customers when they trade-in their old electronic products to upgrade to a newer model. ShP will provide a web enabled retail trade-in facility and manage the fulfilment and disposal of all WEEE collected through such a scheme. Obligations of electrical and electronic equipment users

If your business uses electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) you still have responsibilities when you dispose of it.

You must comply with your duty of care. This includes storing waste equipment safely, using a registered waste carrier and keeping a waste transfer note when equipment leaves your site.

If your business rents or leases EEE the organisation that provides the equipment will normally be responsible for disposing of it.
